I still can’t believe that we were incredibly lucky to be able to call this our first home! I say lucky, but Dunc and I worked our little butts off from the time we met (18 & 20), and we were able to build that beautiful home ourselves, not a cent from our parents/ family, just the two of us (and of course the bank too!). I think because we did it all by ourselves, we were extra grateful and put so much love into it, so we really wanted to make it special. I’m also a huge home body and we really thought that this would be our forever home, so we figured if we stayed there for a very long time it would be worth building our dream Hamptons style home if we could!
Looking back I can’t help but gasp just a little at what we put into that home, but you live and you learn, and wow did we have an amazing place to call our first home and spend nearly 4 years in! This home also led to my love and passion for creativity with design and interiors, my Instagram account growing to be able to inspire and connect with so many amazing people, and of course to me creating and writing this blog right now.
As sad as it was leaving this home that we put our heart and soul into, the excitement to take it all on again x 2 with these two new builds (but this time on a much more responsible budget) was so much more! And to be honest, I can’t wait to challenge myself to be able to create amazing, and hopefully inspiring homes, on a smaller budget!
If you’ve been following me a while or even only recently, I imagine you would have found me through this home, and I know how many of you were sad when I announced on my Instagram account @jo.marie_blissfulbuilds that we were selling back in May 2021, so I thought by creating this blog not only could I share the two new builds, but also everything about our first home as well, including a lot more detail than I can share on Instagram♡
