The “Farmhouse Hamptons” home will be our third build, which we will probably start planning in early-mid 2022, and will be living there a lot longer than home #2. I hate to label all three of these homes, as my visions are never strictly within those styles, but I still want to be able to give each home a name.
Although this home is labeled “Farmhouse Hamptons”, that could mean so many things, as both Farmhouse and Hamptons have a number of styles within each of them, so it can definitely get confusing.
Within the Farmhouse style, there is (just to name a few):
- Rustic Farmhouse
- Modern Farmhouse
- Traditional Farmhouse
- French Farmhouse
- Country Farmhouse
- Industrial Farmhouse
And within the Hamptons style, the list is just as long, but I think I might do a whole blog post breaking down each Hamptons style, since all three of our homes always lead back to having a big Hamptons influence.
So now that you can see there is actually a range of styles within the Farmhouse style, I’ll get into what one I love the most and has a huge influence on house #3, which is Modern Farmhouse!
Modern Farmhouse is really big over in the US at the moment, and I can see it starting to creep over here in Australia as well, and after watching the Studio McGee Netflix series, Dream Home Makeover, I couldn’t help but fall in love with so many aspects of that style. Although they don’t strictly follow Modern Farmhouse, a lot of their designs and interiors have aspects of it that are light and bright, but still cosy!
And because I can never make life easier and stay in the box of one style, this is where the Hamptons style also creeps into home #3. My heart will ultimately always belong to the Hamptons style, and lots of features within that style cross over with the Farmhouse style too, which I think is why these two will work perfectly together.
And if you thought I was finished, not just yet! This home will also have a resort style feel (rather than rustic), especially since we’ll be adding in a pool! So maybe the full name of house #3 is Modern Farmhouse/ Hamptons/ Resort inspired?!
It’s so hard to label these homes, especially this one, but my vision is so clear and I’m so excited! In words, think sliding barn doors, stone features, matte black fittings, white walls, dark shaker cabinetry, linen fabrics, light timber floors, board and batten wall paneling, and lots of bird of paradise and palm trees to give it that resort style feel!
I’ll also add in some mood boards below that I created on Style Source Book, and for even more make sure to check out my Pinterest account (@JoMarieBlissfilBuilds) where I’m saving everything that sparks any inspiration. I’ll also be sharing the whole process on my Instagram account @jo.marie_blissfulbuilds, so make sure to follow along there too! ♡
